Frutiger Home Multiplayer: How Co-op Works

Steam lists Frutiger Home as Multi-player, Co-op and Online Co-op, and the store pitch ends with hanging out with your friends in the finished house. Here is how it works in practice.

How co-op works

  • One player hosts their house and others join that house.
  • Everyone can build and decorate at the same time. Reviewers building with friends call the multiplayer flawless.
  • Your avatar is a customisable figure styled after old messenger icons: colour, glow and accessories.

Finding people to play with

There is no quick-join or public room browser. One reviewer wished for a button to join random open houses, and another’s negative review says you need the official Discord to find people. Your options:

  1. Steam friends. The simplest route.
  2. The official Discord run by frutigerdev, where players share houses and look for co-builders.
  3. Room details posted by other players. One reviewer even left a room code note in their review, so codes get passed around.

Is Frutiger Home still active?

Yes, though it is a small game. On 1 October 2026 Steam showed about 80 people playing at once (78 to 85 across the evening), and the official Discord had around 1,660 members with roughly 380 online. That is enough to find co-builders on the Discord, but not enough for a public server list, which the game does not have anyway: every session is someone’s own house.

Can’t join a friend?

  • Different regions: patch v1.0.2 (29 September) specifically tried to fix players failing to join houses hosted in other regions. Update first.
  • Firewall prompt: on first launch Windows may ask about network access. One reviewer notes you can decline it and still play and save, but if joining fails, allow it.
  • If it still fails after updating, the developer asked players to report it.

Media in co-op

Friends can share uploaded images and music. Each player is asked first whether they want to receive media from that person, and you can manage permissions in settings. Accept only from people you trust. More in custom music and images.

Can I play solo?

Yes. Everything works offline from other players. Co-op is optional.

Does the demo have multiplayer?

Yes. A reviewer points out the demo still has full multiplayer, so a friend can try it with you before buying.
